Make up trends 2009

I have always considered myself a trendsetter however I do glance at the latest trends from time to time. The trends for Fall 2009 is one of my favories. Purple seems to be one of the hottest colors for makeup..MAC repromoted their eyeshadow Violet trance, they have also added a purple quad called "The Gallery" and a deep purple pigment called "Push the edge". Urban Decay has two new beautiful purple hued shadows in Freakshow and Frigid. NARs has come out with a lip pallet by J. Mendel with two beautiful purple hues. What is a girl to do. Another hot color is Yellow in fact the 80's Neo colors are back...MAC has given us "Rated R" a bright yellow/green and NARS has come out with a new eyeshadow duo called "Indian Summer". If classic is more of what you want "Black" as always is hot this fall. Other trends are fall, autum colors, greens, browns and golds are an obvious favorite color choice for fall. As for Nails MAC,NARS and OPI all have new beautiful purple hues OPI in Domestic Goddess is a bright grape color. and Metro Chi is a matte grey color with a purple hue both beautiful.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner

Urban Decay 27/7 colored liners are one of the best creamest long lasting liners I have tried. The critic in me tried to find a flaw with the liners but I could not at a retail price of $17 dollars I think it is worth it. I would hightly recommend this product for the fall especially if you have watery eyes like myself..

Rating 1 low quality 5-excellent

Color Payoff - 5 stars

Waterproff - 5 stars

Application - 5 stars

Variety of Colors - 5 stars

Urban Decay Book of Shades Volume II

Urban Decay has introduced a new mini look with 16 shadows and 8 exclusive shades only available in this plalette, they are also offering two 24/7 eye pencils and one mini eyeshaddow primer potion all for $48.

The exclusive shadows are

AC/DC which is a deep eggplant shimmer

Nylon - which is a champagne sparkler

Mushroom - taupepy gunmetal

sphynx - pink sparkle shimmer

Jinx - bright blue shimmer

homegrown - bright green shimmer

misdemanor - deep teal sparkle

and Perversion - matt black

also good ole faithfuls are included in this pallet,

Sellout

Gunmetal,Ectacy

Midnight Cowboy Rides again

Twice Baked

Half Backed

Flipside

and YDK

My thoughts pallet is not for the faint at heart, if sparkle is not your thing this may not be for you, there is only one matte color which is the black. I love the smooth texture of urban decay and the colors are always bold, bright and well pigmented. If you love color and Bling this is the pallete for you. $48 dollars may seem pricey but for what you are getting it is so worth it with the pencils and the small primer it is a steal.

Mommie Tip - Exercise

I know how are it can be getting into the exercise groove especiall with kids...I always say some exercise is better than no exerise. Here are some ideas you can use if you have small and large children.

Walking - walking is good for all ages and encourage your children to ride their bikes while you walk or push your baby in his/her stroller while you walk

Jump rope - hula hoop with your kids..this is fun and easy and gives you time with your kids. Did you know that hula hooping is great for your waist line...incorporate weight lifting...If you have a young son he will love it!! Buy him a very light weight (a pound or less) watch him go.

Dancing is a great way to exercise, buy exercise videos that require dancing or just turn up the music and watch your kids go..so what if you are not a good dancer just keep it moving. Let your kids teach you the latest dances..how fun.

Working Mommie Monday - To Do List

Have you ever dreamed of doing things before you had kids? I know I have and once you have kids your dreams sometimes get put on the back burner; although not intentional we all get so busy with "life". In my 20's I created a list of things I wanted to do before I was 30 and I was able to scratch all of them off. Now that I am in my thrities my list consist of things I want to do before I am the big 4-0. I have always been a dreamer and for the moms out there its ok to dream. Having kids is not an excuse not to dream, it is a reason to dream. Achieving your dreams may be difficult but not impossible. Dont give up on your dreams!

Working Mommie Monday

Hey my working Moms, so much to do so little time to do it!!! This article is about our kids, there is a misconceptiont that we working moms dont connect with our kids, and I simply dont believe that is true. I know its hard keeping it all together, working, cooking, cleaning, sports and making all the birthday parties. Its a tough job. So I am giving each of you a "NO" pass, its ok to miss one practice, its ok not to go to all the parties, and its ok not to volunteer even if you feel pressured. "NO" is not up for negotiation "NO" really means no not maybe, not I will think about it, but NO!. With that being said we really need to cherish the time we have with the kids, here are a few simple things we can do to connect with our kids.

1. No cell phones or radio in the car with the kids, use this time to talk.
2. Eat dinner together at the table no TV just talk to the kids about their day.
3. Commit to reading a bed time story once a week, more if you can.
4. Hugs, Kisses, and I Love You... my aunt who lost her child when she was 9 told me you can never hug your baby too much.
5. Go to the park often..and take your camera
6. Movie Night my family use to have movie night on thursday but we moved it to friday.. includes popcorn. milk duds soda we even have special movie night popcorn bowls.
7. Dance or Workout with your kids, you need it and they need it to.
8. Sing together, if you child is too young for the car conversastion sing songs they know
9. Let your child help you cook...they love to be little helpers, let them get the spoons, or let them stir you can even let them help you melt butter in the microwave
10 Do a picnic once a quarter.
11. Take them to your job

EYELINER BASICS 101

Hey Bellas,
One frequently asked question most beginners have is how to apply eyeliner, and running a close second is how to make my eyeliner last longer. Lets start at the begining. Eyeliners are used to define the eye, by using them in various ways and eyeliner can make your eyes appear larger or smaller. Eyeliner can be used alone with any other eye makeup, and some forms can be used as an eyeshadow base/primer. Eyeliners have endless possiblities. The price range for eyeliners start at .99 cents and can go up $30 or more.

TYPES OF EYELINER
Gel - This liner is soft and will need to be applied with a brush
Pencil - Pencil eyeliners are changing - they come in several forms, pencil, creamy textures, khol, and retractable form
Liquid - This liner is smooth and will need to be applied with a brush
Felt tip - This is a form of a pencil liner; like its name it is more like a felt tip pen.
Glitter Liners - come in the form of a liquid or gel, these liner add spice to your look.

First let me say there are no rules in makeup, you can use liners in any shape form or fashion you choose. Here are a few tips and tricks I have learned along the way.

Gel liners are great for lining the upper lash line, with its smooth texture it does not require you to tug or pull at your eye, it has a very smooth texture. Please note that this liner requires a brush and that is the tricky part, finding a brush that you feel comfortable with, we will get to that in a sec. I also use gel liners as a base/primer on my eyelid for eyeshadows.

Pencil Liners - Old faithful, they are cheap and come in a variety of colors and textures. Great for travel, quick touch ups and quick looks.

Liquid Liners - Liquid liners are smooth and silky. They are not the easiest to work with and depending on the one you choose can smudge.

Felt tip - Depending on the brand - the texture and finish vary. I think these were created because they are easy to use.

A eyeliner brush is a big deal, there are 100's of brushes out there and I dont endorse any, find one that is easy for "YOU" to use. Many counters will try and sale you theirs and the makeup artist will put it on with ease, but you need to try it for yourself before you make a purchase.

Things to look for when you are buying an eyeliner brush

is it stiff enough, for apparent reasons you dont want it too hard but will it be able to hold your proudct.
How comfortable are you with it
- a cost effective alternative is the sonya kashuk brush from Target it cost about $6 and it looks strange with its angle tip but many people including myself find it easy to use.
-MAC makes several angle brushes that are great and can be easy to use, go to the counter and try them.
-Laura Mercier eyeliner brush was a top pick
-I bought a lip liner brush and used it for my eyeliner brush it -- it worked for me
-The eco tools set comes with an angle brush.

How to apply
-use dashes and take your time
-apply a little at a time until you get the hang of it
-apply or"set" liner with an eyeshadow. By this I mean to prevent your liner from smudging apply shadow on top and it will set it.
-a khol liner is created to smudge and create smoky looks, if you are looking for precision this is not the liner.
-Keep pencils sharp this helps keep your lines smooth and helps keeps the product from breaking when trying to apply.
-Keep lids and tops. By keeping the lids and tops on eyeliners it helps keep down the introduciton of bacteria as well as keeps them from drying out.

Hope this helps

Working Mommie Monday

So much to do so little time. I use to do all my heavy cleaning on Saturday...well not anymore! I do my heavy cleaning on Mondays and Friday, you may ask why because those are slow days for me. We eat left overs and I clean after work , no I dont sit down and I get the mopping and cleaning done while the kids do homework. Why not Saturday well Saturday is booked with Parties and Kid Stuff. And Sunday I wash only and relax. I try to get everything done by 9:00 so I can be in Bed myself by 10:30. A good nights rest is crucial for the working mom.

NU GRO

Nu Gro hair products. Well there is a product that has been introduced to us by the Lovely Ateya on Youtube called Nu Gro. I have been trying hair grow products for years, and I have a form of Alopecia, I know a thing or two about hair products. Well I had to try this product for myself. When I received my products and noticed that the packaging was a print out but this is an up and coming company so that was a minor detail. The ingredients could not be more natural there was nothing on the packaging I was not familar with or could not pronouce which is a good thing. The product says that it produces results in a little as 2 weeks. I have only had the product for one week and I have only used the oil, Tonight I will be using the shampoo. I will keep you guys posted and after 6 weeks I will do a product and I may do a video for youtube but for now I want to see if it produces results in six weeks.

Price - 5 Stars - Inexpensive - the cheapest hair grow products I have seen on the market
Packaging - 2 Starts - Packaging
Mailing - 4 Stars It came in a timely fashion - I heard that were flooded with orders but it looks like they are keeping up.
Customer Service - The customer service was beyond excellent. The sales agent called me backed and was willing to talk in detail about the products. Initally there was a problem with my order and I emailed them and they were very friendly

I will be back in a few weeks to give a in detail review on the product effectiveness.

Revlon Illuminance Creame Shadow

Revlon introduced the Illuminance Creame Shadow and they advertise "Experience luminous, enchanting eyes with our highly blendable Illuminance® Crème Shadow. Create artistic eye looks by layering multiple shades. Long-wearing and crease resistant. Available in 12 shades." I purchased 4 of them since they are long wearing and crease resistant and I was highly dissapointed in a matter of an hour they began to crease. And with the low color payoff some of the colors looked ashy on me but I am a NW47 or 50. Because I have oily lids I decided to prime my eye first to see if the creasing could be held at bay. This may be a product I give away because I cannot use it.

ECO Tools Mineralized Brush Set

For those of you that are not familiar with ECO tools they are affordable high-quality brushes that come inside a natural cotton & hemp case, cruelty free hair and Natural & recycled materials. Eco tools has introduced a new mineralized brush set that is great for mineral foundation the set includeds a small kabuki brush, eyeshadow brush, conceler brush, face powder brush and a travel case. The brushes are amazingly soft and the only drawback is that they are so small. It is well worth the money for travel brushes. It is a must have for all the mineralized makeup users.

Hello Kitty Disappointment

Hey Guys I went to get my Hello Kitty Makeup done this weekend and I was so disappointed! The colors were transparent and for someone that is a NW50 the bright colors did not seem very pigmented. I am excited about the creamsheen line, so exicited I want all the glosses and lipsticks, I purchased lavender whip and I am in LOVE. I love the foundations as well. I had it done for my makeover and I am praying it becomes permant!

The MUA there informed me that they would be doing two launches, first the Mild Kitty and then the Wild Kitty....So exciting!! So much fun. I will post pics and my makeup haul!!!

Hey Beauties
This is post is about taking care of yourself, looking out for number one, which is something I have not been doing lately and it shows.

Last week I had the privlage of going to the presidential inaguration in DC. Well as a short cut and to avoid taking too much I decided to do just carry on. First mistake, I only took facial wipes and the other liquids included make up and personal hygine with that being said I did not take much...Well after 3 days of using facial wipes I started breaking out!!! On top of that I got these terrible fever blisters - which can be brought on by stress...I went from 70 degrees in Texas to 20's in DC which really does effect your skin and health. Oh and did I mention I did not sleep at all on Sunday, Went to New York all day on Monday and did not Sleep Monday night. So here I am nursing myself back into shape and eating right (fruits and veggies) and my body is slowing getting back into my grove. This trip taught me a number of lessons about me.

1. Alway take care of your skin - no exceptions
2. Life is too short - enjoy every second
3. Laugh and Cry Hard.
4. Dont be Cheap - You will pay for it!

about the inaugration - it was a wonderful opportunity!! Yes I did have a silver ticket, No I did not see OBAMA and Yes I would do it again. The atomospher was refreshing I saw so many people from different walks of life. At first I must admit I did not hop on the Obama train with everyone else, I took mine time and gave each canidate a fair chance. Mr. President has a BIG job ahead of him and I wish him the best, I pray for his safety as well as his family.... My new years resolution was to try and do something different and experincing history was amazing! I could feel the tear trickle down my face when my train entered DC I could not believe I was there and was one of the millions of people....Looking out at the reflective pool all I could think about was the MLK "I Have a Dream Speech" they always show the shot of the people around the reflective pool, and one can only image what was going through the heads of the people there. The only thing I did not like was the way they treated Bush...I know he does not get the popular vote, and I myself am not a Bush fan, but I wish more respect could have been shown toward him..He was the president. Regardless of how I or anyone felt about his term, out of respect let him leave peacefully. I think people quickly forget how hard the job of the president is, I can only - decisions that affect people LIVES; what mass of responsibilty that is...the late night phone calls, the emegencies, and making decisions that are picked apart and criticized, no I am not BUSH's number one fan, but I respect the position, and I feel we all should. Anyhoo take care beauties!!

Saving For MAC - Crazy or Smart

With the economy it is hard to imagine spending the big bucks on new MAC product lines such as Dame Edna,Brunette, Blond and RedHead, Hello Kitty and Hello Kitty Koutore. Trying to find drugstore brands that compete may not appeal to some but present a fabulous challenge to others. Let step back and put things in perspective. I know the hello kitty line is coming and I seen a few things I would love to have however my budget says NO...so what I have began to do is to save, yes I said the "S" word SAVE. I buy most of my MAC products at a MAC counter near me so I buy a $30 gift card everytime I get paid and by the time the line gets here in Feb I would have saved a total of $150 and that is my budget. I will not allow myself to buy more. This is the only way I can afford to do this. So since deprivation is not an option for me, I decided to cut back in other places such as taking my lunch, and finding creative things to do at home with the kids and my husband. Yes some may say I am crazy, but it something that I enjoy and what woman does not want to look beautiful..

L'Oreal is offering 10 new pressos - Swanky, Trendy, Chic, Fashionista, Snazzy, Classy, Spunky, Ritzy, Stylish and Posh and the price well $11 to $13 dollars which is pricy for drugstore, but you are getting 3 glosses in one. This is a lipgloss girls dream. Along with the pressos L'Oreal is introducing a new eye khol liner in a cute little container the colors are Black, Brown, Navy, Burgundy. Gold and Teal --fun fun fun.
